Yes. We in MN are experiencing growing pains with new immigration -especially the Somali community as mentioned in the article above. If Mn is a "employment at will" state-- Where does a private employer draw the line at "religious" needs?
I am a Catholic but have never asked to leave early for "Ash Wednesday mass"- which may occur at noon or 5 Pm depending on the church service a Catholic attends. I don't expect "Good Friday" to be a non working day either. I'm lucky if it is. Those who are in retail, or restaurant work know that they can't depend on these holidays as "granted" days off.
If a muslin wants to pray 5 times a day and it meets with US. labor break standards I see no problem with this. Ref: the post below.

I don't think the Somalia Community knew or know what our employment laws were before they accepted amnesty status. Thus a whole big problem. Example 1.)•
•"September 2007: The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission files a suit alleging that the St. Cloud office of Kelly Services, a staffing agency, discriminated against a Somali woman by refusing her a job at a printing press because she declined to remove her head scarf."
I work for a Printing Company and thre are safety reasons for uniforms when working around HEAVY DANGEROUS, mechanical machinery. The presses at my work places are at least 5 times bigger than the "u Tube video" link below.

A scarf could get sucked up into a press and cause amputation or death in minutes. Many people dont even wear "christian" wedding rings, because they are afraid of them getting snagged when operating heavy machinery.
Where do we drawn the line at religious discrimination? Where is the balance at "employment at will?."
