Another Socialist-DFL created mess
I know there's a number of socialists that read Anti-Strib, you're going to have some explaining to do after this one. Some of you folks I'm sure, falsely believe that affordable healthcare is a right, and I bet some of you believe that premiums are too high, healthcare (pharmaceuticals included) are greedy and evil corporations out to exploit the people. Just like big oil, huh?
So tell me, who's at fault for premiums not everyone can afford? Is it George Bush? The Republicans? Greedy executives? The answer is no.
Here in Minnesota, your DFL is at fault.
Minnesota health plans spent more on medical and administrative costs than they received in premiums in 2007, meaning premiums may rise faster in the future.
Administrative costs -- which included unusually high taxes as well as the cost of disease management programs -- were added, Minnesota's eight nonprofit health plan companies posted losses of $71 million, the third straight year of operating losses.
The DFL and their never ending love affair with raising taxes has created unaffordable insurance for some. How about that!
Taxes were unusually high. The industry paid more than $218.8 million in taxes and assessments, a 26 percent increase from four years ago. "Taxes take a bigger bite out of the premium dollar than claims processing and customer service," Brunner said.
A portion of the taxes goes to the Minnesota Comprehensive Healthcare Association.
In other words, we are funding a very small socialized medicine program through our premiums and the added DFL endorsed taxes, the industry is in the red, and needs to raise premiums to stay in business, and the cycle continues.
$72 million in investments for Minnesota Community Measurement, a statewide care-quality measurement program as well as health and wellness programs.
These "health and wellness" programs are the freebies and low cost items the socialized medicine crowd want to include in their plan.
In summary, the tax increases the DFL put in place make the cost of attaining healthcare more expensive, and out of reach for some. Huh! And they claim they are the ones to make healthcare more affordable. Could have fooled me.
