Iraq Is NOT A War

One of many mistakes George Bush and his advisors have made during his administration has been to let the opposition frame the debate regarding Iraq. When John F. Kerry (did you know he served in Vietnam?) called Iraq "The wrong war at the wrong time in the wrong place" he was being disingenuous for political advatage. Again. Iraq is not a war. It is a theatre in a war.

So let's ask this question one more time: What part of "Global" do you people not understand? WMD is not the only reason we invaded. We don't know and may never know the extent of Iraq's programs. And that's a distraction from the bigger picture.
Yesterday a commenter named Tracy (insert smiley face here) made the point that this war has been going off and on for centuries. I have a great respect and admiration for the historically literate. Islam was invented as a political religion. Mohammed's intention was to A) unite the warring and disparate tribes of Arabia, B) supplant Judahism and Christianity, C) obliterate polytheism, and D) unite the world under Arab rule. His followers did a pretty good job, too. They eliminated the last vestiges of the Roman Empire in Africa, occupied Spain and conquered all the way to the gates of Vienna.

So let's fast forward to present day. The most crushing defeat for the Islamic cause was the end of World War One and the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. The Global Caliphate had already been in retreat from Western colonial powers. Was Islam no longer the True Religion? Could the Prophet (pbuh) not be the exclusive voice of Allah? Unthinkable and intolerable. Islam must eventually rule the world because Allahu ackbar. Then came the worst possible insult. The Western colonial powers set up a Jewish colony in the Fertile Crescent and called it the State of Israel. For the devout believer in the Global Caliphate it was a blessing sent from Allah. It was something Muslims had been lacking for decades, if not centuries: Focus.

Now here we are in the 21st Century. We are engaged in a war of antiquity and global scope. World War II taught the Islamic Powers that they could never match the West in military or industrial capacity. One thing leading a religion that's name means Submission teaches is human nature and politics. If you can't crush your enemy outright, then you must terrorize and subvert him. It's a Hell of a one-two punch. They have the idiots who strap on bombs and murder for Allah in abundance. We have the idiots who gladly participate in the subversion because they are anti-war and historically illiterate. The Mullahs are not stupid, and they are supremely patient.

If we follow the advise of the Iraq Surrender Group and pull out of Iraq without at least the appearance of victory, two things will happen. 1) We will unite and encourage Muslim aggression from Indonesia to Afghanistan, India to Nigeria, and B) We will eventually lose the Global War on Terror. Don't believe me? Ask the Romans.
