Saturday Night Dinner

Nothing beats being a “rich” Republican living in Minneapolis on a summer Saturday night. We had an early dinner at Emma’s on Lyndale, formerly Three Muses. The food was excellent. The chef just transferred from Grand Bakery so the food is stylish, yet approachable.

The Lovely Mrs. Eberly started with the spare rib ravioli for an appetizer and I had the Gnocchi with wild mushrooms. Both Appetizers were excellent. Order one for each member of your party since they are small.

For an entrée I had the pork loin with mushrooms and my precious wife had the lamb with sweet potatoes. Again both dishes were very good and the meats were perfectly done. The Pork was pink and the Demi-glaze was sweet , but complimentary.

The wine list is limited, but there are some good finds. We had an Orvietto and a Spanish white (I forget the name). The tab was $91.00 with tip, so it was a cheap evening.

We went home and gave the lamb bones to Fang and then walked to Gigi’s Cafe for a nightcap. (Note: I defend people’s right to live in soulless, car centric suburbs, but I choose not to live in one!) We had a bottle of the Twin Fin 2004 Pinot Grigio for $23. I smoked an Arturo Fuente Don Carlos #3 outside and my blushing bride had her usual flavored smokes; tonight it was the Sweet Dreams Chocolate Mochas.

The weather was perfect and nothing beats walking to a nice café to have a smoke and a drink with your family. MW Jay blames my SO for my urban lifestyle, but the truth is I love the city life and wouldn’t live in Woodbury if you put a gun to my head.

I put my faith in capitalism and the free market. As such, liberalism and the nanny state are the enemies of freedom and prosperity.
